Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate the lowering in the contrast of a display screen by mak ing a gate electrode larger than a semiconductor part constituting a thin film transistor in a reflection type liquid crystal display device in which an active element is utilized. CONSTITUTION:In the reflection type liquid crystal display device provided with an insulating substrate 11, a source electrode 12, the gate electrode 13, an amorphous silicon 14 functioning as the semiconductor part, insulating layers 16 and 17 and a reflection picture element electrode 19, etc., the gate electrode 13 is made larger than the semiconductor part constituting the thin film transis tor. Therefore, light advancing between the electrodes 19 is prevented from reaching the semiconductor, so that leakage current caused by the photoconductivity of the semiconductor part is prevented and the lowering in the contrast of the display screen is eliminated.
