Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device capable of efficiently dissipating heat caused by incident light and maintaining its characteristics for a long time by providing a heat dissipating means for dissipating heat absorbed from a reflecting electrode above the reflecting electrode. SOLUTION: On a array substrate 14, a picture element electrode 15, a source signal line, a gate signal line, a thin film transistor 17, etc., are formed. On a counter substrate 1A, a counter electrode 110 and an incident light shielding film 19 are arranged. As heat dissipating means, a heat absorbing side of a heat sink module 1B comprising a group of Peltier element pairs is brought into intimate contact with non-reflecting surface of a reflection plate 13. Heat dissipating fins 11 and a small type cooler 1C are mounted on the heat dissipating side of the heat sink module 1B for dissipating the pumped heat from the panel into the air. When the light made incident on the counter substrate 1A is made incident on a voltage-impressed picture element, it passes through a liquid crystal layer 18 and is reflected by the picture element electrode 15 with a reflection plate or a reflection plate 13, passing through the liquid crystal layer 18 again, and being emitted from the substrate 1A for displaying in white.
