To provide a reflection type viewing angle converting optical device making light intensity excellent and easy to machining by using a reflection mirror even in a wide angle optical system.
This device is composed of a primary mirror 8, a secondary mirror 10 and a third mirror 37 having rotary symmetric reflection surfaces, an incident light beam from an object is reflected by the primary mirror 8, the reflected beam is reflected by the secondary mirror 10 arranged opposite to the primary mirror 8, the reflected light beam is converged on a visual point by the third mirror 37 arranged opposite to the secondary mirror 10 and a wide visual field is obtained by variously changing the positions and the shapes of mirror surfaces of the primary, secondary and third mirrors.
