To provide a reflector having such a reflection characteristics that reflected light is view brighter when observed at a specified visual angle than when at any other visual angle.
The reflector is characterized in that: a plurality of grooves 48 are formed in stripes in plane view on a surface of a base material 11; at least one or more oblique surface parts 48a are formed in each groove 48; a reflecting layer 12 is formed on at least the surface of an oblique surface part 48a; many fine uneven parts are arranged at random on the surface of the reflecting layer 12; and a plurality of oblique surface parts 48a are different in tilt angle θa. A reflection type liquid crystal display is provided with the reflector 47 between electrodes provided on the external surface of one substrate 10 of a liquid crystal cell or between the substrate 10 and its internal surface.
