Abstract:

To prevent the worsening of a combustion condition following the recirculation of exhaust gas.

This reflux gas temperature control device 15 provided in an exhaust gas reflux tube 12 for an exhaust gas recirculating device 11 comprises an inner tube 18 enwrapped therein, consisting of part of the reflux pipe 12, and an outer tube 19 provided on the outer periphery side of the inner tube 18 to form a cylindrical auxiliary gas flow passage 22. The outer tube 19 bypasses a main gas flow passage 12a for cooling reflux gas flowing in the auxiliary gas flow passage 22. During operation with stratified charge combustion, more reflex gas is introduced into the auxiliary gas flow passage 22 in a high load region where there is a higher flow rate of reflux gas, thereby providing a higher degree of cooling the whole reflux gas. Therefore, a lower degree of cooling the reflux gas is developed in a low load region where there is a lower cylinder temperature.
