Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an aromatic composition containing the β-component in high concentration, by heating an aromatic composition refluxing the distilled light fraction, and thereafter, distilling out the light fraction thereby reforming the aromatic composition suppressing the formation of meso-phase.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic composition such as coal tar (pitch) (preferably having a quinoline-isoluble content of ≤0.5wt%) is reformed by heating the composition at 350W600°C refluxing the distilled light oil fraction, and thereafter, distilling out the light fraction. It is preferable to distil out the light fraction with or without further heat reforming of the aromatic composition while refluxing the light fraction.
