PURPOSE: To improve the antiwear proper of slide portions by constituting a thrust bearing of a refrigerant pump from β type silicon carbide ceramic and enclosed container portions slidably bearing against the thrust bearing from non-magnetic stainless steel.
CONSTITUTION: A drive magnet 45 is rotated by driving a motor 43, and a rotor shaft 35 is rotated along with the rotation of a driven magnet 47 coupled magnetically with said magnet 45 to transfer liquid refrigerant. In a refrigerant pump thus operated, a powerful thrust caused by the magnetic coupling of drive magnet 45 with driven magnet 47 is supported by a thrust bearing 51 slidably bearing against an upper shell 42. Said bearing 51 is made of β type silicon carbide ceramic and the coefficient of friction thereof in combination with the upper shell 42 of non-magnetic stainless steel is considerably small compared with conventional resin materials so that the wear amount of corresponding slide portion is about one twenty fifth of conventional one. Thus, a gap between the driven magnet 47 and the upper shell 42 is held approximately constant to improve the durability and reliability of pump.
