To detect the leakage of refrigerant at low cost and reliably by calculating the temperature difference between the air temperature at evaporator inlet hole and the refrigerant temperature of the middle part of the evaporator and judging the leakage of the refrigerant from the temperature difference and accumulated compressor operating time in a refrigerator with HFC-32/125 family mixed refrigerant.
A microcomputer 10 is provided with a temperature difference detecting means 11 that calculates a temperature difference between inlet air temperature 20 of the evaporator and refrigerant temperature 21 at the middle part of the evaporator, an operating time memorizing means 12 that memorizes accumulated compressor operating time and a refrigerant leakage judging means 13 that judges the leakage of the refrigerant with the temperature difference and the accumulated compressor operating time. As the heat exchanging capacity is decreased proportionally to the decrease of the refrigerant quantity, when the temperature difference being calculated by the temperature difference detecting means 11 is at certain level or lower, it is judged to be the decrease of refrigerating capacity by the leakage of the refrigerant or the shortage of the refrigerant. In an inverter type compressor, when the accumulated compressor operating time being detected by the operating time memorizing means 12 is at certain level or longer, it is judged to be the decrease of the refrigerating capacity by the leakage of the refrigerant or the shortage of refrigerant.
