To provide a refrigerator, preventing frost formation in a large quantity on a cooling device not to cause under-cooling.
This refrigerator includes: a refrigerating cycle having a compressor and the cooling device; a defrosting heat for defrosting by heating the cooling device; a control part for controlling the defrosting operation using a defrosting heater; and a non-volatile memory connected to the control part, wherein the control part has a second predetermined time T2 shorter than the half of a first predetermined time T1, stores the cumulative operation time of the compressor sequentially in the non-volatile memory, and causes the defrost operation when the cumulative operation time of the compressor amounts to the first predetermined time T1. Further, the control parts compares the first predetermined time T1 with the cumulative operation time stored in the non-volatile memory when power is applied after power failure, causes the defrost operation based on a difference when the difference is shorter than the second predetermined time, and causes the defrost operation based on the second predetermined time T2 when the difference is longer than the second predetermined time T2.
