Abstract:

PURPOSE: To regenerate a chelate resin within an extremely short time in an extremely economical manner by using alkali metal carbonate when the chelate resin used in the treatment of boron-containing water is regenerated.

CONSTITUTION: A chelate resin is brought into contact with boron-containing water and, when the resin is saturated with boron, the resin bed is backwashed and air is subsequently sent in the resin bed and an acid is brought into contact with the resin bed to elute a boron compound. Next, when the resin bed is regenerated using a regenerating agent, as the regenerating agent, alkali metal carbonate such as sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate is used. When the resin bed is regenerated by this method, the treatment time at the time of regeneration becomes relatively short and the use amount of water at the time of washing with water may be reduced and it is also easy to allow the pH of treated water to coincide with a neutral region. Therefore, the chelate resin is advantageously regenerated in an extremely economical manner.
