PURPOSE: To obtain a tray molded tray having a low manufacturing cost, a light weight and a strength by specifying the thickness of cloth made of cut glass fiber or synthetic resin fiber and the thickness of integral compression molding by inserting it between the molds.

CONSTITUTION: When a tray is manufactured by SMC by reinforcing with fiber, as a reinforcing fiber layer, woven or nonwoven fabric of glass fiber or synthetic fiber having a thickness of one sheet of 0.1mm to 3mm and a unit area weight of 20-600g/m2 is used. A reinforcing sheet 3 is laid in a mold 4, the SMC 1 is placed, the sheet 3 is further placed thereon, sandwiched between the molds 4 and 5, and compression molded. The molding conditions at this time are, for example, the temperature of the mold 4 of 145 degrees, the temperature of the mold 5 of 155 degrees, the molding pressure of 80kg/cm2, and the molding time of 2min. The conditions can be suitably selected in the moldable range. The tray molded form obtained in this manner has sufficient strength even if the thickness is 1 to 1.5mm, and can be lighter by 10-50% than prior art.
