Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a fault location easily by relaying a packet in the reciprocation path thereof, by one of a plurality of relay devices.SOLUTION: A relay device arranged on the boundary of a first network to which a terminal belongs and a relay network includes a communication device for receiving a packet in one direction transmitted from a terminal to a second network via the relay network, a storage device for storing an address of a second relay device, relaying a packet in a second direction transmitted from the second network to the terminal via the relay network, selected among a plurality of second relay devices arranged on the boundary of the relay network and the second network on the basis of the operational status of the plurality of second relay devices and a predetermined selection algorithm, and a controller for transmitting a packet of first direction, encapsulated using a header where the address of the second relay device is set to the destination address in the relay network, to the relay network.
