Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the durability by using an insulating material which abrupt ly reduces its insulating resistance value if exceeding a specific voltage as an insulating material between commutator segments, thereby decreasing sparks from a brush and reducing the wear of the brush. CONSTITUTION:Commutator segments 10 are radially arranged and secured through an insulating material 1 on the outer periphery of a boss 8 inserted into a rotational shaft of a rotor. In this case, an insulating material which abruptly reduces its insulating resistance value if exceeding a specific voltage is used as an insulating material 11. This material may use, for example, a zinc oxide. Thus, even when an armature winding crosses a portion that a magnetic flux density is high due to a large brush angle, a voltage between large commutator segments is eliminated by the rapid breakdown of the material 11. Accordingly, it can prevent the brush from generating a spark.
