PURPOSE: The titled remedy having low toxicity, alleviating symptoms of autism, improving it much better, containing tetrahydrobiopterin and its derivative as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: The titled remedy containing a compound shown by the formula I (R is group shown by the formula II, formula III, formula IV, CH3, -CH2OH, or phenyl) as an active ingredient. When it is used, the compound shown by the formula is processed with a carrier useful for pharmaceutical preparation into a preparation form suitable for oral or rectal administration or administration not through the rectum. The titled remedy preferably contains an antioxidant to stabilize the active ingredient besides the carrier. For example, ascorbic acid, N-acetylcysteine, etc., and used as the antioxidant, and the amount of it used is 0.2W1.5pt.wt. based on 1pt.wt. active ingredient. Preferably the remedy is further a compound selected from the group consisting of 5-hydroxytryptophan and L-DOPA as an subsidiary active ingredient besides the active ingredient shown by the formula.
