To enable to sense the direction (North, South, East and West etc.) to which a remote control device (RC) provided with a function of remotely controlling a plurality of devices to be operated is directed to remotely control the device corresponding to the direction of sense in the RC.

The RC 10 is provided with an input unit 11 for remotely controlling the plurality of devices to be controlled, a signal recording unit 13 for correlating a control signal for controlling each of the devices to be controlled with the direction (e.g. North, South, East and West etc.) to which the RC 10 is directed and recording the signal, a direction sensing unit 12 for sensing the direction where the RC 10 is directed, and a control unit 14 for selecting the control signal of the corresponding device to be controlled from the unit 13 on the basis of the sensed direction and the input of the input unit 11. For example, when a device A is installed in the East of a user's house and the RC 10 is directed toward the direction of the device A (i.e. East), the unit 12 judges that the device A is directed to the East, and the control signal of the device A is selected corresponding to the East.
