PURPOSE: To effectively remove a tread from a worn tire for reclamation of the used tire by extracting the entire cord from the crown reinforcement by transversely pulling it.
CONSTITUTION: The zero degree cord 7 continuously wound to form a tread reinforcement potentially constitutes a means to separate the tire tread 10 from the tire carcass 11. In comparison with the thickness of the rubber present between adjoining 2 cords 7, tensile stress in the transverse direction, namely-in the direction almost vertical to the initial direction of the cord, is comparatively weak, and the cord can be easily removed by hand. Since the thickness of rubber present at the height of the shoulder between the tire surface at the shoulder and the zero degree first cord 7 is too thick to shear by pulling on the cord 7, a cutting tool is used to remove a section of the rubber from the shoulder on one side of the tire to the end of the zero degree cord 7.
