NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I {R1CO- is aliphatic or aromatic acyl, etc. [which may be substituted with (protected) amino, OH, etc.]; R2 is isobutyl or secondary butyl; X is -CH(Y)AR3 [R3 is (protected)carboxyl, etc.; A is single bond or alkylene; Y is OH, SH, etc.], or -PO(OH)R4 [R4 is (protected) carboxyl, etc.; the (S) carbon has S-configuration} and its salt.
EXAMPLE: N-benzyloxycarbonyl-3-( 1-naphthyl )-L-alanyl-L-histidyl-( 3S, 4S )-4- amino-3-hydroxy-6-methylheptanoic acid.
USE: Diagnostic and remedy for hypertension.
PREPARATION: The carboxylic acid of formula II (His is L-histidyl) or its reactive derivative [e.g. N-benzyloxycarbonyl-3-(1-naphthyl)-L-alanyl-L-histidine azide, etc.] is made to react with the amino compound of formula III [e.g. (3S,4S)-4- amino-3-hydroxy-6-methylheptanoic acid ethyl ester, etc.].
