To provide a method for discharging residue from a reactor which oxidatively decomposes organic material without stopping the residue.
A residue discharge line provided with a first valve 11, a second valve 12, a first drain tank 13, a third valve 14 and a second drain tank 15 in line with reactors 2, 3 which oxidatively decompose organic material is disposed. In the state that an inner pressure of the reactor is introduced to the residue discharge line, the pressure in the second drain tank 15 is raised up to a prescribed pressure lower than the inner pressure of the reactor, the first valve 11 is closed, the second valve 12 is opened, the pressure in the area from the first valve 11 to the third valve 14 is made to be the inner pressure of the reactor and, by utilizing a differential pressure when the third valve 14 is opened, the residue is recovered to a drain tank. Subsequently, by opening the first valve 11 and closing the second valve 12, the inner pressure of the reactor is applied to the area upper than the first valve 11, the residue is moved up to the second valve 12 and, by closing the first valve 11 and opening the second valve 12, the residue is recovered to the drain tank.
