Title:
RESIN BINDER FOR SHELL MOLD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5666344
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: A binder for shell molds which is improved of crack resistance at the pouring and permits production of molds of high strength by compounding a limited amount of reactant having specific structure to a phenolic resin.

CONSTITUTION: The reactant of the 2, 2, 4 trimethyl-4-(hydroxyphenyl) chroman shown by the formula (where n=1W10) and ispropenyl phenol is compounded at 3W50% to a phenolic resin. This binder is flexible, is low in melt viscosity, is good in fluidity and has good affinity to silica sand. Hence, if this binder is used, the molds of small coefficient of expansion, less cracking and high strength can be produced by a shell mold method.
