Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition excellent in curability, resistances to water, weather, acid and alkali, and storage stability and useful for the interior or exterior coating of buildings, etc., by dispersing and polymerizing a specific acrylic monomer in an aqueous medium solution of a specific water- soluble resin.

CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is produced by dispersing and polymerizing acrylic monomers containing (A) a vinyl monomer having a silyl group and expressed by formula I [R1 is 1-10C alkyl, 6-20C aryl or 7-30C aralkyl; M1 is alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, aluminum, etc.; (a) is 0-2] and (B) a vinyl monomer having silyl group expressed by formula II (R2 is R1; X1 is halogen, alkoxy, hydroxy, acyloxy, etc.; (b) is 0-2) in (C) an aqueous medium solution of a water-soluble resin having the silyl group of formula I in the presence of a redox catalyst at ≤70°C and pH5-9.
