PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having high water absorbency, capable of stably existing without decomposing and deteriorating even in the case of the presence of a radical-generating species and a transition metal ion, and useful as paper diapers, etc., by compounding a high absorbent resin with a specific metal compound.
SOLUTION: This composition is composed of (A) a resin having high water absorbency and (B) a metal compound obtained by mixing (i) a hydroxy acid or its salt, and (ii) a polyvalent metal salt constituted with one or two metals selected from a group consisting of titanium and zirconium or (iii) an alkoxide of the component (ii). Further, it is preferable that the component (i) is an α-hydroxy acid, especially gluconic acid and/or citric acid, and the component (ii) is titanium, and the content of the component (i) is 0.001-1 pt.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A.
