To provide a resin composition for paper coating which does not produce formaldehyde and is excellent in water resistance and ink receptivity without causing gelatinization during a reaction.
The resin composition for paper coating is obtained by reacting a polycondensate (A) obtained by a reaction of a glycol (a) and an alicyclic dibasic carboxylic acid (b) with at least a polyamine (c), a urea (d) and a crosslinkable compound (e). It is found that the problems can be solved by reacting : (1) 1.1 moles or more and 1.4 moles or less of the polyamine (c) with respect to 1 mole of an acid value of the polycondensate (A) on the basis of a material amount (mole); and (2) 0.4 moles or more and 0.6 moles or less of the crosslinkable compound (e) with respect to 1 mole of a material amount of the polyamine (c) on the basis of a material amount.
