PURPOSE: A resin composition for powder paint which can form a cured paint film excellent in weather resistance, staining resistance, color sharpness, etc., as well as having no irritativeness to skin, and which consists of a polyester resin and a specific additive.
CONSTITUTION: The 8W93pts.wt. of a polyester resin (A) of an acid value of 20W 300 and a softening point (ring and ball method) of 70W140°C is mixed with 92W 7pts.wt. of an additive of the formula II, having a softening point of 50W150°C, (wherein n is 1W10, R is a group of the formula III, and R' is the main chain of a compound containing two or more carboxyl groups per one molecule), obtained from the addition reaction of p-hydroxybenzoic acid glycidyl ester ether of the formula I (wherein m is 0W4) with a compound having two or more carboxyl groups per one molecule, e.g., phthalic acid, trimellitic acid, etc., at 100W200°C in the presence of a basic catalyst.
