Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a resin for paper coating, improved in balance of ink receptivity, pick strength and gloss, hardly causing change in viscosity characteristics of coating composition or having viscosity lowering action and to obtain a paper coating composition using the resin.
CONSTITUTION: This resin for paper coating consists essentially of an addition- condensation product of an alkylenediamine or a polyalkylenepolyamine with an acrylic acid ester or a methacrylic acid ester, preferably a reactional product obtained by subjecting this addition-condensation product to condensation reaction or addition reaction with one or more compounds of monoalkanolamines, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid or an amine salt or an ammonium salt or alkali metal salts of methacrylic acid or acrylic acid, acrylamide and methacrylamide.
