Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve safety of a vehicle and to reduce wear of a brake lining by applying stable auxiliary brake without increasing the burden of the electric equipment system and the cooling system of a vehicle.
CONSTITUTION: The power of a semitrailer vehicle 1 is transmitted from an engine 5 to the rear wheels 11 of a tractor 2 through a clutch 7, a transmission 8, a propeller shaft 9, and a rear axle 10. A retarder 4 with an exciter is arranged at a trailer 3 separately from a service brake device and worked on a rear shaft 15 separately from the service brake device. Through the working of the exciter, the power consumption of the exciting coil of the retarder 4 is compensated and a harness 6 is thinned.
