Abstract:
PURPOSE: To allow reusing a cylinder by re-converting the depleted UF6, produced when UF6 is extracted from a cylinder charged with UF6 and enriched, to U3O8 powder and charging it in the emptied cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: On a top lid of a cylinder 11, UF6 gas supply and exhaust opening 11c is provided and UF6 stuff is charged in. The UF6 extracted out of the supply and exhaust opening 11c is sent to uranium enriching process and separated with gas diffusion method or centrifugal separation method into enriched uranium of which U235 content is increased and depleted uranium of which U235 content is decreased. The enriched uranium is sent to the UO2 process to use as nuclear fuel and the depleted uranium is again charged in the cylinder 11 to reconvert into U3O8 powder or sent directly to reconversion process. In this manner, the waste amount in the cylinder 11 to be radioactive waste can be reduced.
