At the time of normal reproduction, an input control section 26 reads out an encoded frame from a memory 22 and a decoding section 28 decodes the encoded frame. Decoded frame data is stored in a memory 30. A selection control section 40 reads out the decoded frame from the memory 30 at a recoding frame interval. An intraframe encoding section 42 performs intraframe encoding, stores that intraframe in a memory 44 and stores frame number and address information in a memory 46. At the time of reverse reproduction, the input control section 26 reads out the intraframes in descending the order of the frame number with reference to information in the memory 46 and decodes the intraframe at the decoding section 28. Its decoded frame data is stored in the memory 30. A display timing control section 34 reads out the decoded frame from the memory 30 at the reverse reproduction timing of each frame and displays the decoded frame at a display section 36.
