To provide a reversible thermal recording material which enables formation and erasure of images in distinct contrast and can hold images being stable with time in the environment of daily life.
In a reversible thermal recording material containing on a substrate a colorless or light-colored dye precursor and a reversible developer which causes a reversible change of color tone in the dye precursor according to a difference in a cooling speed after heating, at least one kind of compound expressed by the formula is contained as the reversible developer. In the formula, (n) denotes an integer of 1-3. X1, X2 and X3 denote oxygen atoms or sulfur atoms and they may be the same or different. R1 and R2 denote 1-18C bivalent hydrocarbon radicals and R3 a 1-24C hydrocarbon radical. A sign (m) denotes an integer of 0 or 1. Y denotes a bivalent radical having at least one or more -CONH- bonds.
