Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the contrast of the densities at the time of the color development and erasure of an image having an orange-red hue, in a reversible thermal recording material wherein a reversible thermal layer containing a dye precursor and a reversible coupler is provided on a support, by using a specific compd. as the dye precursor.
CONSTITUTION: A reversible thermal recording material performing the formation and erasure of a image by controlling heat energy is obtained by providing a reversible thermal layer containing a usually colorless or light-colored dye precursor and a reversible coupler generating a reversible hue change in the dye precursor by the difference in cooling speed after heating on a support. In this case, as the dye precursor, a compd. represented by formula I or II (wherein Q1 and Q2 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group, Q3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a halogen atom, Q4 and Q5 are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, A1 and A4 are a hydrogen atom or a carbon atom and A2 and A3 are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group) is used.
