PURPOSE: To simplify assembling of a ribbon cartridge, to contribute to the conservation of resources and to decrease a cost in the ribbon cartridge comprising a ribbon-wound spool rotatably received in a case.

CONSTITUTION: A resilient tongue 16 is provided, while protruding, in a part of the peripheral face of the tip opposite to the driving shaft fitting part of a spool 9 wound with an ink ribbon, a code ring 19 with detected information such as information on ink ribbon formed in the outer peripheral face is fitted externally, and the resilient tongue 16 is brought into elastic contact with the inner peripheral face of the code ring 19 so that the frictional force between the spool 9 and code ring 19 is obtained. When the spool 9 is rotated, the code ring 19 is also attracted by the spool 9 to rotate by the frictional force and when a force for rotating the code ring 19 works in a state where a load is applied to the spool 9, only the code ring 19 rotates over the frictional force.
