Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulk type ribbon-like getter material which is applicable for a fine part with a narrow gap and has high gas absorbing effect per unit weight and to provide a method for producing such a getter material. SOLUTION: This ribbon-like getter material has 0.2 mm or thinner thickness and 0.25 m<2> /g.mm as division of the specific surface area pre a unit weight divided by the thickness by gaseous molecule absorption method. The getter material is produced by jetting molten getter material to the surface of a rotation body rotating at high speed and quenching the jetted material to give a ribbon-like thin band and then etching the surface of the ribbon with an acidic or alkaline solution.
