A rice cooker having an internal pot 24 housed in a rice cooker body 2, a heating means for heating the internal pot 24 (gas burner 8, electric heater 38), a cooking mode selection means 54 for selecting a cooking mode, and a control means 80 for controlling the heating state of the heating means in a cooking mode selected by the cooking mode selection means 54. A first temperature detection sensor 40 for detecting pot bottom temperature of the internal pot 24, and a second temperature detection sensor 42 for detecting pot rim temperature of the internal pot 24 are provided, and when a fermentation function is chosen by the cooking mode selection means 54, the control means 80 controls the heating state of the heating means on the basis of a detection temperature of the temperature detection sensor 42.
