Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road grade-separated intersection structure equipped with a barrier-free roundabout, which is barrier-free so as to allow a passenger in a wheelchair to easily cross a road, and enables vehicles to smoothly and safely travel in all directions.
SOLUTION: According to the road grade-separated intersection structure equipped with the barrier-free roundabout, a first road (12) and a second road (14) intersect each other through a subway (18) and a viaduct (20), respectively, and the annular roundabout (16) of a one-way traffic type is set at an intersection (10) in a ground level. Then the first and second roads (12, 14) are widened in the ground level in areas adjacent to the roundabout, in order to form right-turn and left-turn lanes (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36). Each pair of the right-turn and left-turn lanes have respective pedestrian crossings (38, 40) which are connected to each other via a pedestrian central zone (42, 46) in a barrier-free fashion without forming a step.
