Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable users to easily obtain accurate road information about a desired road in the form of characters or figures at any time.
SOLUTION: The order of road map data 10 is changed in the case of routes without branches and divisions, so that each of the routes becomes continuous from its start point. If the routes have branches, one of the routes is regarded as the main route while the other is regarded as a subsidiary route, and the routes are switched around so that the main route and the subsidiary route are continuous from their respective start points. If the routes are divided, the routes are switched around so that each of the routes becomes continuous from their start points for each division unit. A road network database 11 to which order data showing the order from the start points is added is created. Road information such as traffic jams, provided by a road administrator, is expanded in relation to the road network database 11. If a user of road information requests the transmission of road information through a communication line or the like, while using road attribute information as a key including position, the names of roads, the names of intersections and the like, the road network database 11 is searched for road information about the road requested, and the result is sent back to the user.
