Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a state of a road surface in a simple constitution at low cost.
SOLUTION: A road surface state detector is constituted of a reflecting light-measuring sensor 2 for measuring a reflecting light from a road surface, a wheel speed sensor 3 and a controller 4. The apparatus is mounted to a vehicle 5. The sensor 2 is provided with a light-projecting part for projecting infrared light to the road surface and a photodetecting part for detecting the reflecting light of the projected light from the road surface. The amount of the reflecting light detected during the movement of the vehicle is sent to the controller 4 and a spatial frequency characteristic is extracted. The controller carries out a judgment process for a state of the road surface LD on the basis of an analysis result of the spatial frequency and a measurement result by the wheel speed sensor.
