Abstract:
To provide elevated roadways for autonomous vehicles (automated vehicles).SOLUTION: An elevated roadway 100 includes a pylon 102 extending vertically from a ground anchor having a metal tube defining a central cavity and a concrete column within the central cavity. The elevated roadway 100 further includes a bracket 104 coupled to the pylon 102 with a mounting plate secured to the pylon and a cantilevered roadway support member extending from the mounting plate. The elevated roadway 100 further comprises a cantilevered roadway section 106 coupled to the pylon 102 via a cantilevered roadway support member. The cantilevered roadway section includes a joist structure structurally coupled to the cantilevered roadway support member, a roadway member above and supported by the joist structure, and first and second lateral barriers along respective first and second sides of the roadway member, the roadway member being adapted to receive a four-wheeled roadway vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
