The roll axis moving mechanism uses the slide bearing provided with rail members 11a and 11b guiding a roll 14 in an axial direction, slide members 12a and 12b supporting the roll 14 and sliding on the rail members 11a and 11b, and gap adjusting means C1-C8, 17, 19a-19d, 23a-23d, 24a, and 24b for changing temperatures of the rail member 11a and 11b and/or the slide members 12a and 12b to adjust gaps between the rail members 11a and 11b and the slide members 12a and 12b.
