PURPOSE: To prevent interference between a spindle and a member of a roll changing device by leaving a space having a width larger than the max. dia. of the spindle below the uppermost position of the spindle in order not to install all members of the roll changing device in th slant range of the spindle.
CONSTITUTION: New rolls 1, 2 put on an operation side carriage 4 are pushed into a housing by a pushing device 3 and old rolls existing in the housing are pushed onto a driving side carriage 5 through their bearing box. The carriage 5 is on a rail on frames 9; rails 10A, 10B supporting rolls are connected to the carriage 5 with a beam 11 and no carriage member extending in the vertical direction to the roll axis is installed on the bottom face of the carriage 5. Therefore, if a slant angle of a spindle 8 is largely changed so that the spindle 8 moves up to a position 8', no interfelence between the spindle and the carriage 5 occurs.
