PURPOSE: To obtain a roll-information measuring method, which measures the changing amount of a roll gap without the effects of mechanical error factors (looseness between a roll chock and a work roll, backlash at a gear and the like) and the periodic change of the outer diameter of the work roll and can measure the amount of a wedge and a work crown that give the adverse effects on the shape control of rolled material.
CONSTITUTION: A reference body 11 is made to extend in the axial directions of work rolls 2A and 2B and fixed to the specified position, which is separated from the work rolls 2A and 2B at an interval. The measuring centers of distance measuring devices 13 are fixed to the reference body 11 through supporting members 12 in the attitude facing the radial directions of the work rolls 2A and 2B. A computing device 14 receives the outputs of the distance measuring devices 13. These parts are provided. The computer 14 measures the roll information by the operation based on the distance signals outputted from the distance measuring devices 13, the radiuses of the work rolls 2A and 2B and the horizontal distances to the directly lower parts of the rotating centers of the work rolls 2A and 2B from the center of the measurement.
