A roller cushioning device 8 is formed by fixing a cushioning member 6 made of urethane rubber, by baking, on the outer periphery of an aluminum cylindrical member 7. The cylindrical member 7 is formed so that its diameter is slightly larger than the outside diameter dimension of a roller 3. The method of installing the cushioning member 8 on the roller 3 is such that the cylindrical member 7 is press-fitted onto the roller 3, and the cushioning device 8 fixed by adhesion is installed on the roller 3. Thus the cushioning member 6 can be installed securely on the roller 3 through the cylindrical member 1 and, even if a motor is stored inside the roller 3, the motor will not be affected.
