PURPOSE: To easily remove toner sticking to the surface of a transfer roller in a transfer roller device used in image recorders utilizing an electrostatic transfer process, such as a laser printer and an electrostatic copying machine.

CONSTITUTION: In the roller transfer device provided with the transfer roller 5 which transfers a toner image formed on a toner-image carrier 1 onto a transfer medium 10, a member 11 in which at least its surface is made of an elastic material is pressurized against the transfer roller 5, and the surface of the transfer roller 5 is made of a material whose toner releasing property is better than that of the material for which the surface of the member 11 is made.
