Abstract:
A thread rolling die having a nitride diffusion layer formed in a surface layer portion of a form rolling surface portion for thread rolling to plastically deform a surface of a workpiece, the nitride diffusion layer being formed in an ion nitriding treatment such that a compound layer depth is 1 mum or smaller, a practical nitride layer depth ranges from 5 to 40 mum, and either of that a surface hardness is 1300 HV or larger or that a surface hardened amount is 400 HV or larger.
