In this rolling method, a ring-like work is rolled while increasing the diameter thereof by using the forming roll 1 having a forming groove on an outer circumferential surface thereof and a mandrel 2 having a forming groove on an outer circumferential surface thereof, holding the ring-like work W passed through the mandrel between the forming roll and the forming groove of the mandrel, and rotating at least the forming roll out of the forming roll and the mandrel. The rolling-down speed of the forming roll is controlled to be low when the rolling is started before the forming groove of the forming roll is abutted on the outer surface of the ring-like work, and the permanent rolling is started, high in an intermediate stage in which the permanent rolling is performed, and low again in the final finishing.
