PURPOSE: To uniformize the friction condition of top and bottom surfaces of the rolled material, to prevent the irregularity of the luster and surface roughness, and to improve the value of the product, by reversing upside down the faster roll at every rolling pass, in the rolling mill to roll with upper and lower rolls respectively driven at different speeds.
CONSTITUTION: The roll speed of the upper roll 4 of the reversing mill to roll the material 2 by work rolls 4, 5, is set to the faster circumferential speed V1, and the roll speed of the lower roll 5 is set to the slower circumferential speed V0. Then, the rolling work is carried out at the roll speeds V1, V0, to be reversed upside down at every rolling pass. By starting the rolling work with the faster roll speed V1 being set to whichever of upper or lower roll 4, 5, the same effect can be obtained.
