Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent peeling so as to enhance durability by specifying the maximum compression residual stress, hardness, surface roughness of a surface layer portion and the proportion of residual austenite.

CONSTITUTION: A rolling sliding component has a surface layer portion formed in a part 0 to 50μm deep from the surface and the surface layer portion has a maximum compression residual stress of 50 to 110kgf/mm2 and a hardness (Hv) of 830 to 960 and the average wavelength of surface roughness is not more than 25μm and the proportion of residual austenite in the surface layer portion exceeds 7vol%. Being large in the maximum compression residual stress prevents a crack formed from develiping, and the regulation of the hardness restrains wear, and prevents cracking when a lot of the ductile austenite remains, thus showing peeling resistance. The finer the wavelength of the surface roughness, the better the ability to form oil films. The shot grains 3 of a shot peeling device are fed to a nozzle 7 by means of compressed air and are forcibly sprayed to a surface to be machined. The surface to be machined is hardened and compression residual stress is generated and micro irregularities are formed in the surface to be machined.
