To provide a rolling sliding member having reduced friction force and improved friction resistance on a rolling sliding face both in a fluid lubricating condition and in a boundary lubricating condition, and to provide its manufacturing method.

A number of independent fine recessed portions 11 are formed in the rolling sliding face for the other member, and the surfaces of protruded portions 12 existing between the recessed portions 11 are approximately smoothed and a solid lubricant film 13 is formed on the approximately smoothed surfaces. Thereby, the recessed portions 11 function as oil sumps in the fluid lubricating condition to improve oil film forming effects and friction force on the other member is reduced in the boundary lubricating condition by the solid lubricant film 13 on the approximately smoothed surfaces of the protruded portions 12, to improve wear resistance. The recessed portions 11 are formed by shot peening and the solid lubricant film 13 is formed by shot injection of solid lubricant particles, thus reducing machining cost.
