To provide a roof tile mounting method which can repair a roof without taking off existing roof tiles, and to provide a roof tile for use in the method.

The roof tile mounting method is carried out by mounting the roof tile 10 formed of a thin plate, between the existing roof tiles 20, 21, in a manner covering the existing roof tile 21. The roof tile 10 is the same in external shape as the roof tiles 20, 21, and an upper end 101 of the roof tile 10 is inserted into a superposed portion of the existing roof tile 20, followed by fixing a lower end 102 of the roof tile 10 formed of the thin plate to a sheathing roof board 16 together with the existing roof tile 21 covered thereby.
