Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a rope end former whereby a ring can be quickly formed further just enough by bending even a wire rope of large diameter easily into a U shape.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of right/left horizontal pawls 5, 5 and a single vertical pawl 4 are arranged in an isosceles triangular shape in an upper surface of a frame 3. The horizontal pawls 5 are reciprocated to be right/left operated by a transverse drive mechanism 7 so as to simultaneously approach or separate. The vertical pawl 4 is operated to be longitudinally reciprocated. A hook arm 37 is vertically swivelably supported by the vertical pawl 4. A wire rope is linearly arranged along a pair of the horizontal pawls 5, 5, to hook the hook arm 37 to this rope, and the vertical pawl 4 is retreated to draw in the wire rope between the horizontal pawls 5, 5, so as to flex the rope into a U shape.
