To provide a rosin-derived nucleating agent for a polyolefin resin which has an improved dispersibility or solubility in the resin and exhibits excellent effects on improving the clarity, gloss, rigidity, and moldability of the resin and to provide a polyolefin resin compsn. contg. the nucleating agent and a molded article prepd. therefrom.
A rosin-derived vitrification product is obtd. by removing a solvent by distillation from a homogeneous soln. contg. a rosin-derived resin acid (A) contg. dehydroabietic acid and at least one metal salt (B) selected from among lithium, sodium, potassium, and magnesium salts of a rosin-derived resin acid contg. dehydrobietic acid to thereby cause phase transition or by solidifying a homogenous melt contg. ingredients A and B by cooling to thereby cause phase transition. The objective nucleating agent contains the rosin-derived vitrification product.
