Title:
ROTARY BLADE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57140501
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the vibration resisting strength of the rotary blade of a steam turbine or the like, by filling up and enclosing a granular material of which specific gravity is lower than that of the material of the blade into the hollow portion of the blade. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a rotary blade 1 is hollowed out, and grains 2 of sand or the like of which specific gravity is lower than that of the material of the blade are filled up and enclosed into the hollow portion of the blade. When the blade vibrates, frictional force is generated every time the vibration between th blade 1 and the grains 2 and between he grains 2 each other, and damping caused by the frictional force in the body of the blade occur in addition to aerodynamic damping mechanical damping and material damping included originally in the blade 1. Then, damping larger than that of a solid blade can be expected, and as vibrational stress is inversely proportional to damping, the vibration resisting strength of the blade 1 increases by the amount of the increase of damping.
